Thank you for your time and attention. I had a new hard drive recently installed and formated at Tiger Direct, but I cannot find it on My Computer. I took it back and told them this but as soon as they connected of course it showed up over there as Hard disk J. He made me feel like a tool. When I got back home and turned it on, once again I could not find it. I doesn't show on the My Computer screen. Last night somehow it showed, but this morning it was gone again. All day I can't find it. PLEASE HELP. Frustrated. Have a good one.

It would help to know more about your operating system and the hard drive type.

Right click on My Computer (XP) or Computer (Vista/7) and select manage. Now under storage click on disk management. Look for the drive and make sure that it has a drive letter. If it doesn't right click on it and select change drive letter and path. Click on add, ok, & then ok. Make sure that it shows up in computer/my computer. If it still doesn't show up let us know.

I would open the case and make sure the connections are securely fastened. Then, if it disappears again, take it back and tell them what is happening and that you want another drive.

Thank you for your reply. My computer runs with XP Professional. Also, it has 2 GB of SDRAM, Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.53GHz. I recently had a Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB EIDE HD 7200/8MB/ATA-100 installed. This is the new hard drive that won't show up on my computer. I tried what you said, but its still not showing. It doesn't appear on your hardware scan either. Thanks again.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I checked the connections and they were fine, so I took it back to the store. It turns out that it had a bad ide cable. Thanks once again and have a great weekend townsbg and Digerati. You guys rule!
