Constant crashing
Hello there people =). I'm stuck a little here. So I recently built a new computer as my P4 was definitely ageing.
I started out with Windows XP 32bit and whenever the computer was under heavy load it would randomly restart. Anyway I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and it's doing the same thing except it 'blue screens' giving a different error each time on the screen of death. It's done it so much I feel it has created other problems too such as the computer not starting up cleanly every time. Being forced to run the windows startup diagnostic tool from time to time.
Programs have now stopped working too like Yahoo messenger. The setup file or just the program refuse to run without encoutering an error 3-4 seconds in. Many other programs are affected by this same issue.
But the main issue I wanted to address is my blue screening. Graphics and sound freeze up for a few seconds then I get a blue screen as it memory dumps. Here is my PC info.
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) (build 7600)
2.90 gigahertz Intel Pentium Dual-Core
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded
WDC WD5001AALS-00L3B2 [Hard drive] (500.11 GB)
Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. G41MT-ES2L
Bus Clock: 222 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. F3 04/15/2010
4062 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory (DDR3)
Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset [Display adapter]
650W PSU
I had a Radeon 4550 but its idle temperature was 70 so I took it out through fear of it being the cause of my problems. Nothing much has changed really since switching to onboard graphics. The crashes seem less frequent but it could be coincidence. CPU temperature never really ventures past 50C. Hard Drive is fine too.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
