HD will not allow me access to reinstall

    Hi Guys,
my pc has been going pretty slow recently, so I decidded to reinstal the system. I changed the bios bootup sequence to cd. When it got to the part to boot from the cd, it just went straight past it to the normal Windows boot up screen.
I have tried several systems to see if it is the cd that was causing the problem, but they are all the same. I do have the 500 GB HD partitioned. I am a bit flummixed as to how I get this system to go on, when it will not allow me to install from the cd. Any ideas would be appreciatted.

    Thank you

My Specs are as follows :

    Motherboard ; Gigabyte ; Model EP41-UD3L
    PROCESSOR ; INTEL PENTIUM ( R ) D CPU 3.00 GHZ - GENUINE INTEL.
SOCKET 775 VERSION MODEL STEP 6 STEPPING 5
    Bios : Award Model F4
Graphics : ATI Radium HD 4600 Series
    Memory : 3.25
    Windows XP Pro

That's what it is supposed to do! With the CD set first in the boot sequence, it does not automatically boot to the CD, instead, you get a prompt to press any key to boot to the CD. If you don't press a key, it times out, and moves to the next device in the boot sequence. So what you need to do is pay attention during the boot process to the lower left corner of the screen and when you see the prompt to press a key to boot to CD, press a key - the space bar will do. If the CD is bootable, it will boot from it.

That said, reformatting is ALWAYS the last resort. Do you have the necessary drivers? Security programs?

Yes, I did have the required drivers, etc. Since then, I managed to install win 7 on one of my partitions. Went on easily enough. But now whenIi boot up, it only allows me to boot into the win 7 . When it gets to the part where I am supposed to choose which one to boot from, my Reclusa Kaeyboard will not move the up or down arrow to allow me to choose. It just runs down the timer and bootts up win 7. Maybe it is the keyboard?.
