Question What laptop to buy on a budget??

Hi guys just a quick one.

Im thinking of buying this: ADVENT Modena at cheap prices | PC World

I was just woundering if anyone could find a better laptop for the same price?

I dont want it for gaming or anything like that, just for storage, browsing and general usage, the HDMI Port is handy as i do lots of video editing so one point to consider is how it would cope when converting video files etc etc.....if anyone can find anything that has better specs for £350.00 i would be eternally grateful as i dont really know what i should be looking for in relation to specifications.

    Thanks

Well, whether intentional or not, you listed storage first - and in today's world 320Gb is not considered that big.

I am not familiar with Advent - I don't think they are sold here in the US so I can't comment on that their quality. The specs seem pretty good for that price. I don't know if you can stretch your budget a little more, but as is always the case, for a little bit more, less than £100, you can get a nicer machine that I think you will be happier. I have the Intel i3-330 in my Toshiba and am happy with that CPU. The T4400 is good too. And with Windows 7 and today's graphics oriented world, and especially with notebook that uses on board graphics, I would recommend at least 3Gb of RAM. And for that price, you can get a 500Gb drive too, and probably a better graphics solution and display. Add another £50 again, and you can start looking at 17inch screens, if they are of interest.

    Thanks for the advice =)

So i have been looking at this HP G62-107SA at cheap prices | PC World - And its on sale

I see its got the new i3-330M processor powering it aswell.

Im not really bothered with the screen size as i have to many big TV's in my house anyway lol, and I have an external HDD aswell.

    Good deal?

I don't know the prices on that side of the Big Pond so I don't know if a good deal or not. But is sounds like a decent machine - though it does have a relatively small hard drive. Plenty large enough for Windows and all your programs, and not for lots of archiving. But as you noted, you have an external drive for that.
