i have a 8 GB Sandisk pen drive. it was working fine. But after not using it for about 1 month when i tried to plug in the pen drive into my computer i get an 'USB Device Not Recognozed' error . when i go to device manager i can see 'Unknown Device' under the listing of 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers'.
I am confused if this is a problem with my USB port or the pen drive as i can connect and use another pen drive and u USB mouse in the same USB port. so i guess it isn't the problem with the USB port. Is my pen drive damaged ??
i googled but most of the solutions i found was for correcting the fault of USB ports. However i guess mine USB ports are working fine as i can connect other USB devices through it. so just trying to make sure if its the pendrive that is causing the problem.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
the best way to check would be to try it in another computer! the problem would persist with the pen drive so try it on a few more computers and see if the problem is still there. see if you can try it on different versions of windows. quite common for pendrives to go specialy after good useage. if you have no valuble data you have been lucky as recoveing the data can be costly as this requires a specialist data recovery specialist.
Why do not you try to format your drive once.... Then re plug it. It would work...
