5.1 sound not working - parts to check?

Hi, I have a home built system quad core, with abit IP35 motherboard (built in sound).

My speaker setup is a creative labs soundworks 5.1 setup with the sub and all, and the software that comes with is the realtek sound software manager.

Everything has been triple checked as to being plugged in right, and in the realtek software they have a few places to set things up (check 5.1 as your speaker type etc).

I should say this has worked for about a yr and a half no problems, moved computer re-hooked up and noticed something isn't right, that is why i thought it was a wire or something simple, (might still be), but after re-checking all wires are hooked up right and settings are set to 5.1 sound, running the surround check test thing etc I get all the main speakers fine left, right, left rear, right rear, yet I get no center and no sub, but during say a 5.1 movie if i go into nero showtime for example, i can alter the audio to MONO and i DO get sound from the center channel (it feeds the audio to all speakers evenly) so the center is working just not properly in the 5.1 mode.

On the creative's volume knob I have independant volume controls and i have made sure they are all turned on no mutes etc.

Either something in the subwoofer (where everything plugs in) blew, or something is goofy software or hardware wise as I put in a 5.1 movie on nero showtime (making sure settings are for 5.1 dolby etc) and i get zero from center or sub, same results on a few other video players too.

Wish I had a 2nd computer to hook this up in 5.1 to confirm but almost thinking my board or my subwoofer set is broken ;(

Any ideas what else to checK?

I went to the abit website and am downloading the realtek newest drivers, doubt it will just fix it but figured can't hurt to make sure the drivers are the most current.

    Bill

I ended up downloading the realtek drivers and once i installed them restarted the pc and went into the menu to set as 5.1 speakers (as I had before) for whatever reason it works now.

Figured I should post what i did that solve it for someone else google searching for a fix, still not even sure what went goofy but that reinstall fixed it.
