i work on a ~3 years old computer, with winXP operating system.
I don't know details of my hardware and in D-A-L scan I didn't find data about my USB ports.
I just considered to acquire a new scanner but this requires USB2 connection.
Will this scanner work on my computer or shall I make some changes and if so - how??
Please advise
thanks
I suggest you take you computer specifications with you when you go to buy your Scanner. Make sure you go to a reputable IT shop with knowledgeable technicians to guide you.
For your own private information, (please do not post personal information here), you can go to this link and download SIW.EXE free. With a little trial and error when you have the software on your desktop you can find out everything about your computer. Download SIW Standalone (English Only) version.

Post back if you need more guidance.
kind regards,
thank you Tallin
Sorry I am not very computerwise but
in the SIW scan as recommended by you I find that USB2 is supported on my computer
Does it mean that I can use a scanner working solely on USB2 interface ??
As far as I understood the scanner details, it receives power only through USB2
Please advise
Now you are really asking me the questions....Print out your specs, take them with you when purchasing your scanner, then you can't go wrong. In quotes is the question to ask your supplier.SIW scan as recommended by you I find that USB2 is supported on my computer
Does it mean that I can use a scanner working solely on USB2 interface ??
Sorry I cannot reply more correctly, but I do not want to mislead you. If you ask your supplier, make sure he knows what he is talking about and have a clause in your invoice for a return if the scanner does not work on your system.
That is the best advice I can give, I always do it, very occasionally I take back something, but having the right of return is mandatory here in OZ as long as you have the purchase docket.
Take care and good shopping,
kind regards,![]()
Thanks anyway
