laptop monitor problem.
I have a IBM T23 laptop, my laptop was already now working before this problem. The problem i had before was that when booting with windows xp proffesional, when it reached the screen where it is completely clear except for the white bar loading across the page it crashed there. So my solution was to install windows 98 which i already had cause the windows xp cd would not do anything. In the process of installing windows 98 it asked me if i wanted to remove XP which i did, then it said it wanted to format the hard drive or something along those lines, and i said okay and then it said it couldnt because of some error it wouldnt tell me about. I left it for an hour or so came back tried to boot it and the screen would not show anything. When you switch it on now all you hear is either the cd-rom drive or fan(im not sure) just keep on trying to do something over and over again and it just makes the same whirring sound and does not go any further. I am stuck please help!

Hi,
Not to sure where the monitor comes into this...? Sounds like you needed to run a repair install on XP. Anyway, if you want to reload Windows 98 you need to get a Win98 boot disk, try bootdisk.com then take a look at our tutorial on formatting (wiping the hard disk) and reloading Windows 98 - http://www.d-a-l.com/format-hard-disk.html
