    Hard drive in trouble...

Hello, I am currently trying to work on a friend's computer because he has some serious virus and the computer will boot up but as you log in to windows...all it does it log you out as fast as you log in. So, I can't get to the desktop at all and not even to safe mode. So, I want to buy this piece of hardware but I can't remember what it is called. What it is, ...a tool that enables you can take out someone's HD instead of the whole computer to your house and plug it into the device that uses either SATA or IEE HD's. The HD shows like a storeage or folder so you can run things like anti-virus, malware and spyware on it. Anyone have any ideas? If so, can u post a link from Newegg or something so I can see what you are telling me? Thanks

You will either want an external enclosure or an IDE to USB adapter.

Thanks I found two that I liked and here are the two and which one would do you like?

    Newegg.com - BYTECC ME350V4-ISA-BK Aluminum 3.5" Black USB 2.0 External Enclosure - External Enclosures

    Newegg.com - Thermaltake A2395 Aluminum 3.5" ESATA + USB2.0 External Enclosure - External Enclosures

I know Thermaltake is a good known brand and I don't know much about the other brand.

I don't know anything about the other either. One thing to note is that the thermaltake has had over a 100 reviews and has a reported average of 4 out of 5 "eggs" versus the other which has no reviews.:-/ I would investigate further and read some of the reviews especially the recent ones. Those might help you decide. But merely looking at number of reviews and their average, and because I've heard of them of those 2 I would go with the Thermaltake. But it is up to you because you have to live with it.
