    RAM Errors

After recently validating (never validated before) a partition copy using Acronis True Image, I found the copy had errors.

I’m using two identical memory sticks (both Crucial DDR PC-3200), except for their size - one is 1.0GB, the other 0.5Gb and I have 3 memory slots. Suspecting a RAM issue, I have now used three different pieces of RAM testing software and all produce the same results.

When I test each stick separately using any of the slots, no errors are reported. When I use the sticks together, regardless of the slots (except that I always put the 1.0GB in slot 1 when used in pairs), errors occur.

Can anyone suggest how to troubleshoot this problem further?

    Regards

For anyone interested, on the advice of another forum moderator, I raised the DDR power voltage from 2.5 to 2.7v in the BIOS Setup. No errors were then experienced after two passes of Memtest 86. This is 0.1V above the specified voltage for PC3200 DDR400 memory modules.
