Hey,
I am having a monitor issue (I think I may have damaged a connection) but if anyone has any ideas about this I would greatly appreciate the assistance
My monitor is havning an issue coming up, triggering screen to display image when I start up computer.
It is a flat-screen compaq monitor about 5 years old.
There is a power light on the side of the monitor which is orange when in stand-by and blue when the monitor is on.
When the monitor is having that issue, the light blinks blue, not orange, not solid blue, but blinking blue...
Has anyone had this issue and/or does anyone have any idea what may be going on here?
Again any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi Pluto, and welcome.
Well, that pretty much takes top priority then. A connection where? Back of the computer? The cable? Back of the monitor (if detachable cable)?(I think I may have damaged a connection)
At this point my best advice is to not use what ever device "may have" a damaged connector until it is repaired or replaced. These connectors have many wires, pins and sockets jammed into a small space, with lots of different voltages running through them. A damaged connector could cause these voltages to cross-connect, or "short circuit" and that might cause additional damage - in extrement cases, the motherboard, and anything plugged into it.
So the connector comes first. If a bent pin, super care must be taken when straightening or the pin will snap off.
Once the broken connector is sorted out, the manual would be the place to start with the flashing blue. If you don't have it, we might have found some documentation for your monitor, if only you had included some model numbers. You can go out to compaq.com and search on your model number. And you can search the Internet for: compaq monitor [model# here] manual . Without a manual, my guess is flashing blue means something wrong, because if it didn't have a signal, it would just go to sleep.
If the monitor and its cable are not damaged, try the monitor on another computer and see if it does it there too. If it works good over there, then something is wrong with your computer.
