I have recently fitted a new graphics card. R5750 PM2DIG.
My machine also needed a stronger power supply to run this card. It has been properly fitted as well. I am still getting no signal to my monitor.
The machine itself turns on. The fans are running not only on the computer but the graphics card fan is running too. I get the usual one beep from my computer as it's turned on but there is still no screen.
I've refitted my old card (the one it came with) and the monitor works fine. I origianally thought it might be my DVi-VGA adapter provided with the card but I have bought a new one and that also makes no difference.
My computer is a COMPAQ SR5249UK and the specs for both the machine and the graphics card have been checked and rechecked.
I thought it also could have been the motherboard being faulty but that does not explain why it still works with the old card fitted.
Are there any other reasons that this could be happening and are there any solutions that anyone can help me with?
Well, the new card could be bad, but before deciding that, many newer cards, besides needing more power, also require a direct connection (or 2) to the power supply too. So check your manual and make sure any required supplemental power connections are made. Also, many motherboard's have a separate power connection for the PCIe bus so make sure that's not the case either. Are there any other reasons that this could be happening and are there any solutions that anyone can help me with?
A search on R5750 PM2DIG does not tell me anything. What is the brand and model number of your new card?
I have plugged the extra power cables in as well but still nothing. The model is the R5750-PM2D1G and te GPU is ATi Radeon HD 5750.
I hope that helps.
Well, if you are sure it has been properly connected, and you followed the driver installation procedures from the manual, then it would seem to be a bad card.
No brand name? Many makers make cards using that GPU, including MSI, Sapphire, XFX, and VisionTek.
Sorry. It's made by MSI.
Well, that MSI card does require connecting an additional 6-pin power connector directly to the card. You did that?
Yes. Done.
Then it looks like the card is bad.
