I have recently had to unplug my Dell PC and since then I cannot get the internet connection to work again. Everytime I plug the cable back into the socket it makes all the phonelines go ded and the internet will not connect - it is coming up with an error. Anyone any ideas on what is going wrong? This has never happened before!

What is the verbatim error?

Are you sure you replugged the exact line into the exact port as previously installed?

Thanks for the response. I am plugging into the same ports - it just keeps saying there is no dial tone. Could it be the ADSL filter?

A bit confused. If you could provide more details it might help us help.

For example you said you had to unplug the computer etc. What exactly did you unplug?

If you have a DSL Ethernet then the Dial Up error is moot.

Did you reinstall your OS? Did you plug the Ethernet plug back into the proper port? etc.

Anyway if you do have DSL Ethernet you should have no Dial Tone issues.
