Ok, for whatever reason, my computer stopped recognizing my USB mouse. I had my friend use my mouse on his computer and it worked fine, but for whatever reason, it no longer works on my laptop. The USB drive is fine, because I was able to upload pictures from my digital camera with it, but for whatever reason, my mouse wont work. Any ideas?
Thanks guys
A mouse is a cheap item to buy - I would suggest purchasing a new one if your friends works in your USB ports.

kind regards,
My friend's mouse wouldn't work in my USB port either. My mouse worked on his computer though. I bought a new mouse and still no luck. I'm also getting the follow error from my fingerprint reader when I start my laptop: "biometrics reader. fingerprint reader is not connected. please connect the reader to USB port". like i said, all of my USB ports work when I upload pictures, but for some reason, they won't work when I try plugging my mouse in.

Still no luck. It won't recognize either mouse.
In the device manager, I'm getting errors for the following USB Controllers.......
Intel (R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Hose Controller - 2830
Intel (R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Hose Controller - 2831
Intel (R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Hose Controller - 2832
Intel (R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Hose Controller - 2834
Intel (R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Hose Controller - 2835
As you are getting so many errors, please follow the step by step in my last post if you see yellow or red warning signs in your device manager. You would need to reinstall the drivers for each and every USB port with warning signs.
Read and follow Microsoft step 2 may help you to solve your situation.
I would not advise you to ever follow Step 3 in the Microsoft link, always go to your manufacturers website to install drivers for your OS.
