Monitor is messed up!
Hi Guys,
Its been some time for me to visit this website and you guys have always helped me out so hopefully you can help me out again!
My monitor for my PC (Vista) has been on the blink with me as of late. My monitor had power problems, all the wires are connected but I literally have to bash the adapter to make it work. One day, I got really annoyed as I heard something inside the adapter rattle, So I tried to open it to have a look but no luck. I have even tried different adapters and still the same problem!!
! When it does work, all I get on the monitor is an aray of different colour lines. Which got me even more annoyed.
I got to a point where I had enough and decided to buy a brand new monitor to get rid of this problem! I got home, plugged it all in securely and to my amazement, still the funny colour lines!!! I can only presume it is something to do with my video card. Maybe it has had it? Don't know. Is there anything I can do to fix this as I need my computer? If you need any more information or even pictures of the lines please get back to me.
Thanks a bunch,
Bhav

It certainly should not rattle. Did you unplug the computer, open the side panel and make sure the card and all required power connectors were tight and secure?

Hi Digerati,
I have nto done that yet, I am currently at work and will have to try that when I have some time at home. I will keep you posted though.

Please define what you mean by "adaptor".
The video "adapter" generally means a video card. (ie; A card in a motherboard slot.) The only thing that could "rattle" on it would be a loose fan/heatsink if present (generatly on newer cards only), or actual mounting bracket.
Does your monitor connect to such a card in a motherboard slot (PCI/AGP etc), or, directly to the motherboad? (Near the mouse and keyboard connections.)

Hi guys,
Good news, my monitor works now, however, my sound driver is gone!! I cant hear anything...help?
-
How did you fix your monitor?
Did your sound work before you fixed your monitor?

I opened up my pc today to see if my graphics card was in properly and I also gave it a little clean. I realised that my graphics cards was not working so I bought a new one and it is working fine now.
However, as my new monitor is a HD LCT tv, when installing the driver for my graphics card, it also overwrote my standard sound driver with a HD driver. My computer is hooked up to my hi-fi as I prefer it to be.
I can not hear anything, I have even tried putting headphones directly into my computer and still can not hear anything. Performed a System Restore hoping to bring back my original sound driver but it did not work either.
I used to have a Realtek driver and now I just can not find it anywhere.
Help?
