    start up message

whenever I start my computer..It initally starts up as normal then when I get past the windows start up screen, I get a black screen with a blue box which says ""self diagnosis pc display settings correct?" The screen then goes blank and nothing else happens. Does anyone know how to fix this ?? I have tried two different monitors and it does it to both.

Smart move trying a 2nd monitor. I wish all users would do that (or try a suspect monitor on a 2nd PC) when experiencing display problems.

This sounds like a graphics driver problem, but it could be a graphics hardware failure. Either way, it appears the card (or on-board solution) is not syncing properly with the monitor when resolutions change. Can you boot completely into Safe Mode?

When did this problem start? If just recently, you can try System Restore and go back a couple days to before the problem started - you may have to do this in Safe Mode too.

Before we can help further, we would need the specifics for your hardware, and version of Windows.

Sweet! Glad it worked and thanks for the follow-up. Now use this incident to remind you to backup any data you would have been upset to lose.
