I recently tried to connect my laptop to my LCD through VGA. The TV always worked fine with my desktop. The Laptop detected the TV fine and even switched to the correct resolution. But the TV could not detect the laptop and was not allowing me to switched to the PC channel and it was grayed out in the main menu.
I have a Viao VGN-NS20E with vista home installed.

I did a bit of research on google and it seems there is a compatablilty issue with samsung tv's and vaios. Some people have managed to fix this with the vaio event update and the vaio ultilities update which can be downloaded from the Sony support site but i can't find any of these ultilities for my model and the Sony support site dosn't even know what my model is as the NS20e is not listed anywhere on the site.

Forget the above question. Pretty much solved it right after posting it. Had to go into Vaio control centre under display settings theres a little check box about monitor detection which needs to be check. lol
