    CD-Rom Sounds

The hardware makes a weird sound when running some CDs. But they work perfectly and all (no corruption). Anyone know how to solve?

the drive is the source, not loose, its an internal, it works fine with most cds, just makes sounds with others.

Sorry to ask this again, I know you just said it is the drive but.... Are you Positive its coming form the drive? Have you run it outside the case to check? Quite often its the vibration on the case which makes a whiring noise...

Yeah, tightening up the screws that are securing a drive to the system chassis will often make it quieter as it minimises the vibration. Over time, some drive screws will get slightly loose and need a little tighten.

If a drive is noisy and it's quite old and it's fitted tightly, I'd either put up with it or, more often, throw it away and fit another one.

....But then I'm a system builder so I've got too many spares anyway!
