Hi there can anyone help me please. when i turned on my Laptop last night the screen Turned red whilst loading up, then normal screen when logging in. When it gets to the normal main screen the colours are fine for a split of a second.... then the colour of the screen changes to Red and Yellow ... more yellow than red. can hardly see anything.

When i managed to navigate the mouse to shut down.. the screen turns back to normal colour when it is shutting down. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my laptop? i have tried system restore but still no joy.

I have a Dell inspiron 1520 just over 18 months old.

(i am using my pc at to mo) please advise

The first thing to always do when troubleshooting graphics or display problems is to isolate the problem to the computer, or the monitor. All notebooks allow the user to connect an external monitor for briefing and presentations so I recommend you connect an external monitor and see if the problem happens on it too. If it does, then you know the problem is with the graphics solution (the card, integrated device, or drivers). If the 2nd monitor works fine, then you know your notebook monitor is having problems.

Does it work fine in Safe Mode?

Did you happen to get an extended warranty?

many thanks for your advise, i connected to an ext monitor and it was all working fine, even on safemode was fine. i then disconnected and went into 'graphics properties' and into colour correction and moved the slider from the right to the left on Gamma, contrast and brightness and now everything is back to normal. so i really dont know if its going to happen again??

i was told to extend my warranty will cost me £100+ 6 months ago, but didnt take it on cos felt it was too expensive.

Yeah, extended warranties irritate me - I hate them, but I get them on things that get bumped about or dropped - notebooks, phones, PDAs.
