Constant reboot on laptop - No display

I hope someone can help with this.

My parents have a Packard Bell R1935 laptop and over the weekend they managed to break the hinge on the case. It looked like there was just a loose screw so we had a go at disassembling the case, using the disassembly manual from Packard Bell's forum.

We followed the instructions without any problems up until it said to remove the monitor and wireless antennae wires which we did not do as we had access to the hinge. It turned out that the hinge had snapped, so we put the computer back together.

Everything seemed fine until we turned it on. It now turns on, runs for 2 seconds, then turns off for 2 seconds, then back on for 2 seconds and so on until we disconnect the power and remove the battery.

There is nothing displayed on the screen and there are no beeps from the bios, however you can hear the fans turning on.

Any idea's on what we've done, or is it likely to be dead now? I've rechecked all the wires/connectors that I can think of.

Do you have an external monitor you can try?

Have you tried with the battery removed running off the AC adapter?

Have you tried all the Hotkeys on boot?

PB has this site but it wants your serial #:

Just tried it and got no picture, even when pressing the button to switch between displays

I've tried on there, can't find anything useful. It's all just basic troubleshooting, no help if you can't even get to the bios. If it helps the serial number is 710102970230

The only thing that's changed now is that if, whilst it's resetting, I remove the battery, then put it back the laptop will power on and not reboot, but there's stlll no sign of life. I just get the power light staying on instead of flicking on and off.
