Computer keeps freezing..
Hello,
My computer has been fine up until a week ago, my pc keeps freezeing every 20 mins.
I did ad-aware searches virus searches ect. Nothing was found, sometimes it even freezes up on my mo/bo screen when I have to manually shut it off and on agian because of the freezes. So I recently have checked my ram with memtest it all passed, i did disk check, then i just recently reformated.
Once i reformated it hasent froze up until not to long ago it froze for the 1st time. But my pc just froze agian while playing a game, this time when i restarted it wanted me to load defult cmos by pressuing f2, then when i booted up it looked like there was no drivers for the vidoe card. Then it froze agian, then i restarted and when it did it found new hardware. I also tryed a different video card, nothing seemed to work.
my specs are..
Foxconn A7GM-S AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Nvidia 9800GTX+ (then i tryed another video card and it still froze)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
ULT-XF600 (600W) - ULTRA PRODUCT X-FINITY.

And my voltages in bios are..
Cpu Core: 1.296
DRam Volt: 1.872
Nb Volt: 1.088
+3.3V: 3.376
+12.0V: 12.032
+5v: 5.13
-12v: -4.35
-5v: -5.18
Vbat: 3.25
And my video card is a 9800GTX+ PCI EXPRESS x16. Then i tried a 7600 gt PCI EXPRESS X16. And I have another power supply but its a 400W or 450W and its older i could try but havent yet.
And my temps in bios are..
CPU Temp: 36C
Sys Temp: 30C
Any suggestions?

Just for info purposes (I am not a hardware expert) is there any external hardrives plugged in USB ports or SDHC Flashcards plugged in when it freezes. You can try disconnecting those when powered down to see if problem persists. Also, When was the last time you blew out the dust inside of computer with a can of air? Dust will cripple a box.
Freezes are usually Hardware related either through incompatibilty reasons or heat trapping dust on certain areas of MOBO or a failing piece of hardware.
At least it is that way in Linux. Not sure about Windows. Other members here that run Windows can tell you what to look for. Good Luck.

There isnt any external hardrives plugged in USB ports or SDHC Flashcards plugged in when it freezes, and I air dusted my pc 4 days ago when this started.

Ok, maybe a Windows software program is causing the freezeup. Is there any particular program that is open when this happens?
You can try what is suggested below to do a software maint type checkup/maint to see if that will improve matters any if no particular program causes the freezeup.

Me, I am a full time Linux user so I can only put my google skills to work for you.
There should also I think be a way to check for errors somehow in Vista like a window that you can open and look to see what Windows has to say about why it froze up.

Also since I use the command line in Linux to trouble shoot my gear I figure it won't hurt to give you Windows Vista Commands List.

I highly suspect the power supply, because that unit you have is a very weak supply. Do you have a friend or neighbor who has a decent power supply in the 650 watt range to try in there?

Im going to ask a friend and see if he can help me out, if not i might have to buy one :\.

I have been delving into video issues in Linux forums and when you get your friend to give you a hand have him check into maybe reinstalling your video drivers for you because freezes can also be video driver related. Good luck with it.
