External HDD array that works with Windows and Mac?

    Hi everyone

I am new here so nice to meet you.

    I'm in a quandry.

I purchased a 4TB external RAID array; an Edgestore DAS401.

However I found out that it doesnt work accross platforms [yikes!].

Basically I need a device that has 4 tb of storage that I can sync files between a Macbook pro

and a Vista based desktop. do any such things even exist?

and based on this criterion; is it worth keeping my old one?

It all got a bit compilacated when i moved from extrenal hdds to arrays... :idunno:

    cheers!

First, does the array say that it is compatible with Mac? Second, what is the file system? If you are using the default for windows (NTFS) that isn't fully compatible with Mac as it is a proprietary MS file system. Other than that I don't know what to tell you because I don't use macs and I don't use arrays but I did do a search. An idea is to use a crossover cable to connect your computers together via ethernet ports. You will have to figure out how to configure your mac for file sharing and I can't advise you on that either. Note that these are not the same kind of cables that are used to connect a computer to a router or a modem but only for connecting one computer to another. I know that they look the same but they are wired different from the other cables.
