I just hooked up my brothers speakers to my comp. Creative speakers. 6 and a sub. I installed the newer sound driver for my motherboard and after that the sound worked or so i thought

My music plays in itunes so the speakers are hooked up right. When i run a test that just plays the tones through the speakers with the driver application.. that also works.

My problem is that if i try and play a test tone through the volume control, nothing happens. Also if i play any video on youtube through mozilla or IE8, nothing happens.

Ideas ??

First of I need to know more info on your computer especially your operating system. If it is Vista the sound control has individual sound controls for each running application. Make sure that the volume is turned up for those applications by clicking on the little speaker in the lower right hand corner and click on "mixer".

I'm running windows XP. I know the speakers work and that the volume for the operating system itself is not muted because i can play music out of itunes. i'm confused if the problem lies with the applications themselves or if its with the driver/settings. thats where i think the problem lies.

Open up creative's EAX console, select CMSS 3D, check to enable CMSS 3D and then stereo sound.
