Question How is XFX NVIDIA 9600 1.5GB for the specs

    Hi Guyz,
I'm purchasing a custom desktop system. Along with the specs (below) they are offering NVIDIA XFX 9600 1.5GB bundled with Far Cry 2.

    Now the question is
    1. Can someone please suggest if the card is generally good & ok for this specs &
    2. Will it play Crysis smoothly as it is the heaviest in graphic terms.
3.If not can you suggest any another Nvidia Geforce to go along with this specs within the same price range

Will appreciate your help in this matter. Thanx for reading.

    My Specs
    ----------
Intel Core 2 Dua 2.8 Ghz
    Intel Original DG-31PR Motherboard
    4GB DDR2
    500GB HDD SATA
XFX Nvidia Geforce 9600 1.5GB (Bundled with Far Cry 2)
    LG DVD R/W D/L

    Hi acef_is...welcome to THF

I, myself, don't have any experience with this card but the reviews of it sound quite good.

That will run it. What is the OS?

If you want to use Crysis as a model it will only run on full settings using Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 64 bit.

If you have a choice to go higher end these are the latest NVIDIA models:

The 9000 series was the previous series to this.

No problem. I'd also suggest upgrading to Windows 7 when it is released in October.

Again using Crysis as a benchmark the "high" settings are not available in XP nor is Direct X 10 (Vista) nor Direct X 11 (Windows 7).

Also note the power requirements as these new cards require dedicated lines that all PSU's do not have.

Most are 2 X 6 pin but some are 6 pin + 8 pin. Most also require at least a 500Watt PSU with +12 Volt current rating of 36 Amps.
