Problem with display
My monitor is only displaying in 16 colours, and I can't change it. My browser crashes when I open up a page with video, and when I open up World Of Warcraft (the only game on my computer) I get this message: Failed to find a suitable display device. Exiting program.
Any help here?
-
Sounds like you lost your driver.
Do you know the make and model of your graphics card?
-
No, I don't. If there is a way to check, I'd gladly do it as long as it helps.
-
Is there anything I could do?
-
What Windows version is it?
What is the computer brand, and model?
-
I have windows 2000 professional edition. The make of my graphics card is VIA Technologies, not sure of the model. Also, not sure of my computer make and model, as it was made at a local computer store, and I didn't buy it.
-
VIA is a chipset maker so you are implying the graphics is on board rather than a card.
Where are you getting that info?
Try CPU_Z to ID the mainboard:

Is your monitor plug at the computer Vertical or horizontal?
-
My plug is horizontal.
The info is from a program on add/remove programs called VIA platform device manager. This may not mean anything, and if it doesn't I'm sorry, I'm really dumb when it comes to computers. It may also be NVIDIA, but I just don't know.
-
Do you have NVIDIA in add or remove programs?
-
Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Open it.
In left pane expand Computer folder.
Click once on Summary
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under the line Debug - PCI
