Internal DVD Drive failure - I think!!
Hi
I have a Fujitsi Siemens PC running Windows XP SP2. I have had it just over 3 years.
Today I was ripping a couple of my audio CDs to my computer when the DVD drive stopped working completely. It wouldn't respond no matter what I tried. I tried a DVD film, Playing a music CD, a Data CD. The drive would just keep spinning with the light on the drive continually flashing. If I tried to go to My Computer to see the drive the "egg timer" would appear and just stay on the screen. As soon as I opened the drive, My Computer would be OK again.
I looked in Device Manager and the drive (a TSST corp CDDVDW - S202J) was working properly. The troubleshooter didn't help so I uninstalled the device and when I rebooted, Windows XP found it and reinstalled it but the same problems happened. Any ideas or has my DVD drive died?
Many thanks for your anticipated help
Graham
