One Google search suggests the following:

First try to remove all the files from c:\wtsrv\system32\spool\printers\*.shd

Also it is not advisable to post to multiple forums without advising that you have done so.

We have no idea what they might suggest and you might try and or vice versa.

No problem. Just makes things easier for everyone that we know as much as possible.

After reboot is there any difference?

    Event Viewer
    --------------------------------------------------
Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.

Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Basic information on Event Viewer errors can be found here: EventID.Net

Everything I am finding relates to Windows 2000

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890642

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324183

"Service: "Print Spooler" - As per Microsoft, this problem may occur if a print job that contains an older version 3 DEVMODE structure that does not contain ICM information is submitted. When the spooler tries to reference this data, it causes the access violation. A post SP3 hotfix is available. (2000)"

You might try uninstalling the printer and software again and use a driver cleaner and reboot prior to trying a new install.

Here is one free cleaner that might work:

    http://www.download3k.com/System-Uti...fessional.html

"The program is for ATI, nVidia, Creative, Realtek, SIS, 3Dfx, S3 and more drivers."

yes did look at your link, this seems very odd indicating an error known to w2000 when mine is xp,how can that be. did a driver clean up not with your link as that software was not free!and to no avail. indicates cannot locate rpc, this how ever is also set to auto, restart print spooler again turns off as soon as printer driver is trying to be installed. out for most of day so will respond asap.
