Hard drive problem [ i think]

    Hi
I'm a newby but I'm willing to learn....My problem is, I've been downloading files from a file sharing site [movies mainly] and when I open the folder were the files are d/loaded to, my hard drive constantly spins like it's trying to load something. It sounds like its really working hard at something and it restricts me to doing anything else untill it stops what its doing. I know what most of you would say is to not d/load from peer 2 peer sites but for me it's not an option. I hope someone can help me as I have another problem I would like help on if this one can be solved 1st.
A BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE :yippee:

    Just to clarity:

When you open the folder does it open?

If not is there any error?

    How large is the folder?

    What exactly is in it?

    Can you delete it?

Does the computer have any other problems outside of this folder?

    Hi
Thanks for the swift reply.Answers to your questions: The folder is the download folder in Bitlord and yes it does open and No error message. The folder itself is only 15gb and I have a folder with 600 gb which opens and closes faster than this one. I can only delete it if I change the name of the file and put it in a knew folder, then I can delete the original folder otherwise it says the file is in use. The computer does have 1 serious problem, being that if I try to reboot it, its like its stuck in a loop it flashes a blue screen then trys to restart again and again and so on, untill I go into the bios and reset it to standard settings, then it will restart. This is the other problem I was going to ask about after this one which I could tell you about in more detail but I would have to go into the bios to let you know what settings you need to know, and I really need my computer and I can't risk rebooting right now. Hope this helps...

    Hi
It has been coming up with a message saying that I can't delete the file as another program is using it, although I don't have any other programs open. Also sometimes I can't do anything as my hard drive is constantly spining and I havn't a clue why. Do you think i need a fresh install?

    Who made the hard drive?

If you don't know look in the Device Manager:

Right click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager:

Click + next to Disk drives:

    What is listed there?

    Run SeaTools:

    http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.js...00dd04090aRCRD

The DOS version would be best but you can try the Windows version first as it is easier.
