    DVD Drive Problem

    I like to burn TV shows onto re-writable DVD's so I can watch them on my TV. I have had no problem for the last two years, but now when I put in the disc my computer will not read it. When I click on the DVD Drive it just pops the disc out and says please insert disc. If I use just a writable disc....not re-writable, it works just fine. I only have a problem with the re-writable ones. It is a little expensive to use non re-writable DVD's, I live in Germany and watch ALOT of TV. I dont know what the problem could be. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. I have a Dell computer...I am at work now so I do not have the specifics.

    Thanks.

    It could be;
    1. your re-writable media is coming to the end of it's life cycle
    2. the optical drive is coming to the end of it's life cycle

    Are you performing a full/complete erase of the media or just a quick erase?

    I had been doing just a quick erase...now I cant do anything on it...it wont even read the disc to allow me to erase it.
