I have a Dell 4600 and when I try to backup or copy files to a disk my cd-rom drive says read only. I have used new disks and still does the same.

Try this, open My Computer, right click on the CD drive and go to properties, select the recording tab and click "enable CD recording on this drive".

If that doesn't work I would try getting a driver for the burner from the manufacturer's website. If that doesn't work I can't help you. Sorry.

I uninstalled my CD Creator 5.2 and reinstalled it and everything is working just fine.
