Angry My Compaq Presario PC won't turn on!!!

Hey Everybody!!! I have a Compaq Presario PC. Two nights ago, there was a bad lighting storm in my area that even got my AC unit. My comp was turned off during the storm & was plugged into a surge protector. Now my comp won't do anything at all when I press the power button. The light on the power source on the back of my comp is on. Somebody told me it's in legacy mode because it's an old comp, but I just bought the comp last year around Thanksgiving. How can I find out what happened to it & how can I fix it. I need help!!!

    Welcome to techhelpforum.

Notebook or Desktop machine? Post your exact model number.

Have you tried bypassing the surge protector and connecting directly to house power?

As a first measure, go to the Compaq support site (with a working machine) and run through the troubleshooting procedures; http://h18000.www1.hp.com/cpq_support.html

Post back with your results, and/or if things seem difficult, any further questions as to what to do.

It is a Compaq Presario SR5110NX Desktop PC. I've been to that site you gave the link to already & I couldn't find what I was looking for. & the Compaq tech with the online chat pretty much told me to get another comp.
