    an old p3 computer problem

    Hi,

I got an old window me p iii computer. Hasnt used for a while and has been exposed to rain. Recently when I'm going to use it, the computer can start up but no signal on the monitor shows up. The monitor is new and works fine with other computers. Then I thought my be the mother board graphics card problem so I added this old graphics card but nothing shows up either. Is it that the mother board's dead? The power seems fine and when I pressed cd rom, it can eject.

    Thanks

Hi talkingtree - yeah, it sure sounds like the motherboard is bad - or the CPU or RAM or all 3 - that's a pretty old system that has had a rough life. The CD eject only means +12V is getting to the CD through the power connector - and cannot be used to indicate PC health status.

For something that old, I might try to replace the motherboards CMOS battery, otherwise - otherwise, I would not spend any more time or money on it.
