I have a Gateway Desktop with a ATI X1300/X1550 Series Video Card with an S-Video Out. I recently purchased an S-video cable to run to my Philips 30" TV which has an S-video in on it. When I turn off my computer unplug the monitor and plug in the S-video to the computer I get a very poor picture of my desktop on the tv. It has big grey bars that scroll up the screen and I get a flickering jumpy picture that is hardly legible.
I have tried going into the catalyst control center and adjusting the resolution and have tried making the tv a "2nd monitor". Neither seems to work. It is incredibly frustrating.
What am I doing wrong?
Hi lawnkhan - sorry you did not get a response. Were you able to resolve this? Did you try another TV?
No I have not been able to resolve it yet and have not tried another TV. I don't have access to one current enough to have secondary inputs; they are co-axal only. I was considering trying a DVI cable or a converter box of some sort. I am so close to having it work. It would almost be a step backwards not to try to work it out with the S-video. I just need to figure out how to clean up the picture, get rid of the scrolling grey bars and keep it from jumping around. Thanks for the inquiry though.
DVI - both ends must support that digital interface, electrically and via the correct connection - if they both have it that will yield a better quality picture anyway.
