when i play my dvd there is no sound on my films but my cds play alright on my laptop can anyone help

I gather you mean audio CD's (CDA, MP3, WAV, etc) as opposed to video files (with sound) on CD's. Is this correct?

If so, the problem most likely lies within your DVD "Plug-In" or "Handler".

What is your Operating System, and what (Program/Utility) are you using to watch DVD's?
