Does anyone know what might be the culprit if speakers have been working and suddenly are not? Unfortunately, I wasn't here the first time they were noticed not to be working--my mom was.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Although this might seem a silly suggestion have you checked the speakers are still plugged into the back of your PC and if they are powered that they are plugged into the supply? If the speakers are not plugged into the PC plug the connection into the light green plug socket on your soundcard or onboard sound connections (that is assuming that your connections are colour coded).

Post back with your findings.

Hi and thanks for the suggestion. I checked all the connections, and everything looked as it should be; however, I took the power cord and plugged it into a different socket, and presto!, I'm hearing sound again! Thank you, thank you!
