i have a pair of old rambus 256 533 mhz 16 bit memory. i `m shopping around for an upgrade and i`ve discovered its so @@@@ expensive compared to the next generation of memory.
my question is that can you run ecc and non ecc together? and pc 800 with pc 1060? the reason i ask is i`m not exactly what is in there. SI sandra gave me most of the details but i`m not sure what the pin config is. will it say on the old sticks if i pull em out?

So many considerations here. And yes retro fitting old RAM is considerably more expensive if it is even possible.
As far as "speed" all RAM will revert to the lowest on the board.
As to EEC and NON no you usually cannot mix.
As to the 16 bit you may run into "density" issues with newer RAM.
Pins will be either 168 or 240. Other distinctions here:
