I have an Advent 7013 Laptop and when I start it up I some times get a dark screen. The 'start-up' screens are ok and if I hit the hibernate or power button the 'shut-down' screens are fine and lit. A few restarts and its fine for the rest of the day. I'm using it now and its fine.
Any ideas as to whats up with it and what if anything I can do?

Is the screen totally black or is it dimly lit?

Laptop is about 3-4 years old. You can just about see the screen if you peer at it really close.

Sounds like the "backlight" has died.

These can be replaced but unless you are very well setup to do it yourself I'd recommend taking to a shop.
