Graphics Drivers
Hey
I recently formatted my PC and, as it appears often happens, my graphics driver now needs to be reinstalled as I can only get 16 colours.
I've read a few posts on here that advise you do a Belarc scan first, which I have done, but I still can't find the driver. Can anyone help me?

That board has an AGP 2x graphics card with apparently no on-board graphics. Hence you need to ID the graphics card.

What shows up in the Device Manager under Display adapters?
Right click My Computer and then click Properties then Manage then Device Manager.
Or go to start Run... dxdiag | Display
sorry if the commands are slightly different as I am not familiar with ME

Thanks. The Display Adapter on DirectX and Device Manager is Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA). Please let me know if you need any more information.

Your computer is not detecting your graphics card. Most likely because there are no drivers installed. Hence it is using Windows generic VGA.
Do you know the make and model of this computer?
Are you familiar with opening the case? The graphics card would be in the top slot perpendicular to the motherboard and it should have an ID on it.

Thanks for this.
The Computer is a Firstek. I think I found the graphics card, would it be an S3 Trio 3D/2X?

Thanks for that. However, it's saying that there is no information there for my device.
Could it be Holtek HT27C512 - 70?

The driver package jephree linked to is for your O/S and video device. (I've never seen him make a mistake.) ;>)
Quote from the link:
"This download is the final driver package released for the popular S3 Trio 3D/2x video cards. The driver will work under Windows 95, 98 or Me and installs version 1.00.28 onto your system. It was released in mid-1999 and the official stance from S3 is that the driver won't be updated again."
Running the attached utility will confirm what device you have. (This is the utility for Windows.)
If the linked drivers don't work (I'd be surprised), I have an older driver for 95, 98, ME which I can upload here if required.

Thanks guys. The link that Dan provided tells me the following:
Chip Name: Trio3D/2X (362/368)
Instance: HKLM\Enum\PCI\VEN_5333&DEV_8A13&SUBSYS_8A135333&RE V_02\000800
Reg Key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Displ ay\0000
Supported: AGP v1.0, 1X/2X speeds
Enabled: 2X speeds, Bus master
Unfortunately none of this means anything to me. The driver that Jephree linked me to isn't being recognised by my computer I'm afraid. I was just wondering if I may have given the wrong graphics card name as the Holtek one was on the same card.
Sorry if I'm being vague and girly :-/

the smiley face in the chip name inserted itself. lol. it should read Trio3D/2X (362/368)
