    First Computer Build - Problems

This is my first try at building my own PC. I have installed everything into the case. When I turn on the power, the fans, and LEDs all come on. I can also hear the hard drive spinning. However, nothing comes up on my monitor and as soon as I push the power button again everything instantly turns back off (unlike my other two PC's where I have to hold the power button for a few seconds) Maybe I missed something with compatibility, so here is what I have installed.

    Max 480W Power Supply

    Gigabyte Socket AM2 Motherboard-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128321

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2 Ghz Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103741

    SAPPHIRE X1550 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102079

    A-DATA 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 RAM

And a Seagate 300 MB Harddrive that I am salvaging from my previous computer, that I know works fine.

The Hardrive is set as master and connected to the IDE1 port. The video card is in the 1st pci 16 slot and the sli is set to one card mode. Both ram cards are installed. Power is connected to the ATX_12V connector and the 20 pin ATX. The fan for the processor is also plugged in and it runs while the computer is powered up. I had my cd drive connected, but I disconnected it to keep things simple until I can get an image. Anyone see any conflicts here that I need to address? Any help would be great!

    Update:

I installed an ancient regular PCI video card into the system and it sends a signal out, so the problem is my video card configuration. Anyone know alot about this kind of motherboard to explain how I need to set it up to run my one PCI Express 16 video card? The fans spin on the card when it is installed, but it displays nothing.

    The motherboard manual

    http://america.giga-byte.com/FileLis...55sli-s4_e.pdf

has a few setup ideas regarding PCI_E. SLi jumpers as well as power ideas.

If your PCI_E card does not have an independent power connection (I do not see one for that model) then there is one on the motherboard. If your PCI_E card does have its own power connection Do Not use the one on the motherboard.
