Question system locking during boot up

I have a shuttle mn31n motherboard which has been the board from hell. I think there is something wrong with the bios. Every time the computer is unplugged I have to reset the bios. I have replace the battery many times, thats not the problem. I have had all kinds of problems with buggy drivers for this board. When I download updated drivers to fix problems with one driver release I find I have a whole new set of problems caused by the new drivers. I can't win. Every so often the computer decides it is going to refuse to boot up. To make a long story short the computer occasionaly decides it is going to lock up during windows boot up. I can usualy repair by reinstalling windows, but this time however it keeps stopping when it trys to check system hardware.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like a hardware problem or incompatibility.

Easiest thing to test is the RAM. Use only one stick and try different slots.

Verify that the RAM is compatible with the board. Run MemTest.

Verify that the BIOS Setup is set to Default as well.

If the board has a more recent BIOS then yours you might try flashing it.

Next suspect in my book would be the PSU. You can get a tester at most any electronics store to test that or try a new one.
