AC power adapter set on fire!

Hi, i'm sorry for double posting but i have a question not related to the previous one... I have a Toshiba A60 Satellite Pro laptop, yesterday when i moved the power cable (it was plugged into the laptop) It made a loud bang and fire started coming from the cable near the powerpack. Of course i unplugged it from the laptop immediately and i know i can't use it now because it's fried the wires BUT i'm stuck without it. Until i manage to buy a new one, is it safe to use my daughters charger?
    Mine is a:LITEON input= 100-240v 50-60Hz 1.5A output=19v 4.74A
    my daughters is a:HP input=100-240v 50-60Hz 1.5A output=18.5v 4.9A 90w
If it's NOT safe to use hers... does anyone know where i might buy a replacement Toshiba one without going directly to Toshiba? Their prices for a replacement are nearly £100 :nervous: many thanks

Any power supply with the appropriate voltages/wattages/connector polarities should be fine. The connector polarities are quite important. Some have the "center pin" as + (positive) and the "outer sleeve" as - (negative), and some vice-versa. DO NOT connect anything where these polarities might be reversed.

I would stay with a power supply which matches voltages etc exactly. I wouldn't use your daughters P.S. even though it's only one half volt and .16 Amps different.
