Modem not detected (dial-up)
Hi.
I bought a refurbished laptop (Toshiba Satellite 4060XCDT) but the modem isn't working. When I try to connect to the internet, it says modem not installed. I tried to install a modem (by selecting general 56K modem), but it said no modem detected. Thinking it might be missing a driver, I downloaded a generic Toshiba modem driver from the web, but it was still not detecting a modem.
I have looked on the Toshiba support site for a modem driver for 4060XCDT but I can't find one. They only have drivers for 4060CDT and 4080XCDT. I can't find a place on their website to contact them.
Any advice would be appreciated as I really don't know what to do next! As the laptop is not new, I don't know if it is a driver problem or if it's just dead.
Another problem I have with the laptop is that at boot up it requests networking login-details. I cancel it, and it uploads windows, but how can I get rid of it?
The operating system is Windows 98 - I don't know if it is SE or not - just says Windows 98.
