Hi to all out their, I don't know if anyone can help and I hope that this might be of help to others.
Computer was running fine when a message popped on the screen about a virus within a second pc switched off it tried to reboot and kept switching off when getting to the logon screen. pulled out the modem usb and pc booted fine. ran a few virus programs and removed about 8 trojans ..ok..
soon as modem is plugged in pc dies. fitted in eithernet and comes up with limited use, tried 2 different cards still the same. Right moved files from pc to spare drive..ok run up another pc and transfered files show as 0kb or corrupt. but the dodgy pc see's them and plays them fine... removed many unused files and programs also via registry edit. the pc is stable but still dies on conecting the usb modem.. Now a worrying bit found that the firewall was turned off (not me and no one else use's the pc) and another user had set up a user identity. so some one has been in and deposited a program? now the bit you might be able to help me with I have found a file listed as ntuser cd file about 9,000 kb and a doc type file of 1 kb these I can't run ,open or delete tried to rename and thats not allowed either. does anyone know how I can delete it.
Also I decided to start again put in cd and because windows has updated many times it would not boot from cd ..ok no probs do it from the boot menu... guess what the boot screen menu is no longer there.
