Dear Users,

I currently own a Compaq Presario r3000 laptop. This laptop was great in every respect until children came along. The children were BAD for the laptop, and the port which receives the power plug was kicked while the plug was still in it. Forcibly. This caused the "prong" which stuck out of the port to receive the contact metal edge of the plug to break off of the surface of the internal power supply. Now, the problem can be remedied by using a needle cut to size or a small nail in place of the prong, but this seems dangerous and makes pretty sparks. :P Any suggestions as to what I should do? Since the power supply is connected directly to the motherboard, getting a replacement power supply is out of the question and I wouldn't know where to acquire a replacement because that would entail getting a new motherboard and don't know the model of motherboard anyway. The warranty is expired and I have checked the Manufacturer's website several times to see if they have a product FAQ-type thing. They don't! Or at least the stuff they have in it isn't helpful. I really really don't want to pay 300 bucks for some custom job in a repair shop, don't want to undertake open heart surgery on my power supply, and can't get a new motherboard.
PLEASE HELP!
