Display problem on start up

    Display problem on start up

I have a Fujitsu Siemens T3010D Lifebook Tablet PC running the tablet version of Windows XP.
On start up about two thirds of the screen is unreadable with a fuzzy picture. The fuzzy area has overlayed images which rotate over each other as if there is a bad vertical lock on the image. This only affects two thirds of the screen starting at the bottom left.
If I restart the computer a number of times it then becomes normal, the number of re-starts required varies from one to five.
Question - is this likely to be a hardware or software problem?
Apart from shooting it any suggestions on a cure?

    Did this just start happening?

Unfortunately it sounds to me like a hardware problem.

You can try reloading your graphics drivers available here:

    Hi Jephree,
Thanks for the advice. The problem has started happening recently and occurs everytime I switch on the machine, it never occurs after I've been using it for some time.
In the "old-days" when I used to repair televisions I would have looked at the vertical output amplifier and synch circuits - possibly changed a few valves etc. That type of repair is not possible now and considering the computer is a few years old the repair cost would probably exceed it's resale value.
Anyway, just in case I've downloaded the latest driver and will keep my fingers crossed but I'll probably have to buy a new machine
