m new to this site and i was wondering if someone could help me with this problem
im tying to boot my pc form an xp cd but the pc hangs at "setup is inspecting your computers hardware configurationgs"
i have removed all cards and pheripharels apart from the cd rom and the hard drive which is formatted and still the same problem
i have also changed the IDE cable
any ideas pliz

Assuming that the CD is not damaged you have some hardware incompatibility.

Did you run the XP upgrade adviser to see if your computer could run XP?

Is this a new build? If not was another version of Windows previously installed?

Many of these issues relate to Graphics cards. Do you have either on-board VGA or another card to try?

Are you sure that your hard drive jumpers are set correctly? Primary Master?

Do you know the specs of this computer?

its not a new build ...HDD jumpers are correct
its an old soltek motherboard(1.3GHZ Celeron)with in-built VGA
i have already cleared the cmos once with same result
i have also tried 3 different 128MB RAMs....
though im using ATX P4 power supply
HDD is formatted and the cdrom is ok
i think there was another OS installed before....
