    Red face p3 to p4

I have a dell 650 mhz pentium 3 and was wondering if I could upgrade to a pentium 4. I have the ram almost maxed out at 640 mb and the mother board is an intel. The model for the motherboard is se44obx-3
    Thanks Jason

the simple answer No, the P3 and P4 are different socket types

so if The socket is different than I would need to swap out the mother board also. Does anyone think this is worth it?

depends on how much you want to spend, can you get a board to fit your machine, some Dells have different power supplies that will only fit a Dell motherboard.

Thank you all so much. I could have wasted money on some type of upgrade which might not of worked or seen little benefit. The net is so great making it possible for a novice like me to get access to knowledgable people like you.
Thank you for taking the time to help me. Jason
P.S. If you ever need electrical advice give me a call.:yippee:
