I am toying with the idea of getting a new laptop and am looking at a duo core one. I am after a duo core one for the extra speed and reduced power usage.

Went into Dixons, sorry Currys online, in Meadowhall and the assistant in there told me there was no differnece in power usage or speed tween the Intle dou core and the AMD 64 bit chip as they are both effectively 64 bit.

Now, knowing Dixons from on old I naturally dont believe him. I thought a duo core was 2 32 bit processors that would do 2 processes at once, therefore twice as quick. I know that 2 32's are 64 but I assumed that despite the number of bits a single processor would only do one process at a time so therefore half the speed of 2 processors.

The question is, am I being unfair to Dixons by assuming he was lying through his teeth?
