bad mobo or power supply?
Computer will not start. Am open to suggestions here.
The mobo (P5ND2-SLI deluxe) still shows the green light as being on. But nothing works or turns on.
I unplugged the 24 pin connection from the power supply to the mobo and did thee old paperclip trick of inserting one end into the green wire slot and one end into a black wire slot and all the fans kicked on. Thus leading me to believe my power supply is good. But, dvd and cd drives will not open even though they are getting power. Are the open/close buttons on the drives controlled by the mobo via the ide cables?
I'm 90% sure my prob is the mobo, but i hear so many storys how power supply problems could be misleading.
Anyone have anymore tricks i can try before i start disecting my computer?

UPDATE: problem turned out to be a faulty power supply, I highly recommend not to trust the paperclip trick to test a power supply, u can still get enough juice from a bad power supply to lead u in the wrong direction when trouble shooting.
