Hard Drives not detecting

    haha ok i dont know what happened but its working now

    i followed ur advice and plugged the ext hd into a 2nd comp i got the usual bling blong usb connect sound and it said it was ready to use but the same thing (not showing in my comp folder). I disconnected the ext hd and re plugged it into the first computer (original) and well now its working

    Hmm, it went down again!

    once again my external HD is not detecting on My Computer. Same thing applies as before.

    Under win xp (sp2) if plugged in it will restart my comp. Ive tried different USB ports, unplugging usb devices, using a hub with a voltage adapter. and everytime it simply restarts my computer.

    under windows 2k if pluggedin, it shows in my removable device icon in task bar, but there is no drives shown under My Computer.

    nope I have a Primary Master Harddrive PATA drive c:\
    for both computers only difference is one has xp the other 2k

    And you're sure the drive is not faulty at all?
